バースデーケーキって なんで まるいの？

バースデーケーキに、キャンドルして、お願いして、フ～♪ って消すのっていつはじまったか知ってる？

いろんな説はあるけど、古代ギリシャの人々が、月の女神アルテミスのために、月みたいに丸いケーキを作って、キャンドルをキラキラとかざったんだって。

キャンドルをする理由は２つの説があって、

1　キャンドルの煙が、お願いや祈りを空にいる神様に届けるから

2　悪いスピリットが煙をいやがって逃げていくから

なんかかわいいよね～😊

The ancient Greeks left us the tradition of putting candles on cakes and making a wish.

Greeks brought round-shaped cakes adorned with lit candles for Artemis, the goddess of the moon. Candles were lit to make them glow like the moon.

There are two possible and logical explanations:

1 People may have believed that smoke from the candles carried their wishes and prayers to gods that lived in the sky.

2 Others probably believed that smoke helped to ward off evil spirits.
