What's cooking?

This phrase is a colloquial phrase for greetings like 'How are you?' or 'What's new?'. It also means 'What's happening?', 'What's going on?' or 'What are you up to?'.

It tends to be used as a general social greeting.

Don't be confused with 'What are you cooking?'.


Anyway, I finally started cooking!

Recently I went to buy lots of kitchen utensils as I decided to become a good cook since this was my new year's resolution, to be honest. I'd always hated cooking but when I tried it, actually it was fun! Look what I made💓

このフレーズは How are you? とか What's new? みたいにあいさつに使うんだよ。

あとは What's happening? とか What's going on? とか What are you up to? みたいに、何してるの?とかにも意味があるよ。でもとてもカジュアルだから、ボスとかに言わないほうがいいね。

What are you cooking? (何を料理しているの?)とちがうから気をつけてね!

2021年の新年の目標に「よい料理人になること」ってきめたからね。たくさんキッチンの道具買ってきた。ずーーーと料理が大きらいだったけど、やったら楽しいかったね!
